Leuconostoc  mesenteroides seem to have been found sharing genetic information with other organims.  This is called conjugation.  A study on this was done by Dessart and Steenson and it is in the Journal of Dairy Science.  The study tells about information exchange between Leuconostoc mesenteroides ssp. cremoris and Lactococcus lactis through a conjugation process.  The following video demonstrates the process of conjugation.
